A lot of new people have popped up competing for Charlotte SEO in the search engines as of late.  I have not made any serious attempts at this in almost 2 years.  Seeing as how I have a reputation to uphold, this is the first phase of a new search engine optimization strategy I am rolling out. 

As an SEO in Charlotte NC for the past 6 years, I am happy to see the area attract some talented professionals.  I have met many of them at the Search Engine Marketing Association of Charlotte.  This is a group that meets monthly to discuss various topics related to search engines and internet marketing in general.  This includes things like link building strategies, Adwords tips, click fraud, on-site SEO factors, and we have even had free site analysis for local business owners in Charlotte NC by the professional members of the association.  We have grown 6700% in size since our first meeting about 2 years ago.

Everyone has seen the root domain example such as this site for the City of Charlotte:

You may have also seen sites with subdomains receive them as well, such as the Charlotte NC page on CitySearch.com:

But I have never seen a site with a subdirectory ranking #1 receive any sitelinks… until today!  Searching for Charlotte Nightlife showed me that CarolinaNightlife.com’s Charlotte NC subdirectory is #1 with 3 sitelinks!

So it seems safe to say that Google recently changed the sitelinks algorithm to now include subdirectories that rank #1. On another note, I’ve noticed that you no longer have to be #1 to get site links. Here is the #2 position of the CarolinaNightlife.com root:

It’s good to know Google keeps improving it’s search results.

Today I had an interesting meeting with Martin Sumichrast. Mr Sumichrast is the publisher the Sumichrast Report, and a contributing editor to The Street which is run by the host of CNBC’s Mad Money, Jim Cramer.

Mr Sumichrast is a 20 year veteran in real estate, finance, and entrepreneurship. He has also co-authored 2 books The New Complete Book of Home Buying and Opportunities in Financial Careers which are on Amazon.com

Mr Sumichrast wrote an interesting article today on proactive investment strategies which advises buy ‘buy and hold’ and take control of your own investments.
